Petrified Forest National Park

This is one of the top parks that you can see all in one day. Just a nice drive with a bunch of short walks every few miles.

I didn’t have high expectations for photography on this bright cloudless day, and to be honest most of these photos are just “look at these neat rocks!” But there’s a couple landscapes in here that I think are pretty good, and I’m happy I solved the puzzle of how to edit them.

Agate House

A house built by the Pueblo people a thousand years ago, made entirely of petrified wood. It was partially reconstructed in the 1930s.

Long Logs Trail

All the “rocks” in these photos are petrified wood. There were also many examples of 20ft+ long unbroken petrified logs. Very cool.

Crystal Forest

Blue Mesa

North of the petrified wood, the park also had a badlands area that was a welcome surprise.
