Grand Teton National Park

From Yellowstone, we went immediately down to Grand Teton. We did the scenic loop on our first day, stopping many times to admire the incredible young peaks.

We ended up staying a few nights on a ridge across the valley from the main mountain range. This gave us great views every evening, and I really hoped for a spectacular sunset. The sky never really popped off unfortunately, but I’m fairly happy with the image below. I’d like to go back someday and try again, probably from down in the valley where you can really foreground the mountains. But for a view I didn’t have to drive to, this was pretty nice.

I did hike over to another ridge one night, hoping for a better composition. I didn’t really love it over there either, but I was treated to a rainstorm blowing across the valley. I think this is the first time I’ve ever captured lightning in a photo?

Captured a quick timelapse while I was up there, as well.

Cascade Canyon Trail

Our only hike in the park was around Jenny Lake and up Cascade Canyon as far as we dared go with rainclouds and thunder overhead. A little busier than I like, but still a fun time with great views.
